Visualization for Training

There is an approach, that all the top performers in bodybuilding and power-lifting have claimed to be extremely effective. This is visualization.

How to do it? It is all about your imagination. Let’s say you want to improve your bench press. What you will do is to imagine pushing 20 pounds more, than your current personal best. But imagine it with vivid details – sense the bar in your hands, feel your muscles contract, hear your voice when you are trying to finish the movement.

This will all make it feel more realistic, and your brain will really believe that you really did make a rep with that weight. Do this for 10 minutes every day, even if you are not working out. You will see

Have you noticed how after you’ve done a personal best, it becomes much easier to repeat it. This is why visualization is so effective. People like Ronnie Coleman have done it, and also people in different sports. Michael Jordan, Neal Armstrong, Tiger Woods are just a few of the legends, that have used visualization while practicing.

This doesn’t necessarily mean that you will become a legend in some sport just by visualizing. But you will become much better at it. Your belief system is critical to the way you perform. So play games with your brain and you will reap powerful rewards.

Of course, if you are trying to improve your personal best, have someone to watch out for you. While visualization is a powerful tool, that doesn’t mean that it is %100 certain that you will succeed the first time. Just incorporate it in your workouts, and see what happens. There are no miracles, but this is as close as it gets.
